The Rotary Club gathered on May 16, 2023, at Cool City Brewing Company and via Zoom for a productive and inspiring meeting. Let's dive into the key highlights and discussions that took place during the session.

The meeting commenced with the customary Pledge of Allegiance and 4-Way Test, fostering a sense of unity and shared values among the attendees. Warm welcomes were extended, followed by announcements and a special mention of Betty Bittner's birthday celebration.

Reece Timm and Shaidyn White were introduced as the Junior Rotarians of the day, exemplifying the club's commitment to fostering young leaders.

The program segment featured Belinda Esquinas, the executive director of The Crossing of Manitowoc County. Introduced by Lisa VanLanen, Belinda shared her personal journey and the mission of this remarkable non-profit organization. The Crossing of Manitowoc County focuses on providing emotional, educational, material, and spiritual support to clients, empowering them to build strong and resilient families. Club operations were discussed, covering upcoming programs, the need for committee chairs and members, and reports from board and foundation meetings. Notably, the Applefest Committee meets every Wednesday at Cool City Brewing Company, and plans for the End of Year Picnic on June 27 in the new Central Park are underway.

Regarding club events and service opportunities, Sundae Thursday on June 22 garnered enthusiasm, and the Meals on Wheels program seemed to be fully staffed. Additionally, Applefest, a highly anticipated event, was announced for October 14.

Insights from the district level activities were shared, including highlights from the Tricon Business Meeting and conference. Moreover, Betty and Debra presented a grant request for the upcoming 2023/2024 term.

The Happy Bucks session provided an opportunity for attendees to celebrate and support various causes, showcasing the generosity and compassion of the Rotary community.

Looking ahead, the next program chair and greeter were announced, with Tim Wester set to provide an update on the LB Clarke renovation and timeline.
