August 16, 2022 Meeting Report
What's the latest with the buildout of the Cool City Brewing Company? We hear about it from Curt Andrews at today's meeting.
August is Membership and Extension Month
Announcements
The Greeter role is being brought back along with a schedule to be distributed soon. Plan on performing this responsibility the week before your turn as program chair. In this role, you will greet members, orient guests and mark attendance on that day’s greeter sheet. You will need to get started a few minutes early so as to “get the badges out.” Yes, we are resurrecting those as well.
Today's Program
Today's speaker was Curt Andrews from Cool City Brewing Company. He provided an update on the history behind the project and what they are doing. Cool City Brewing Company is a partnership between Curt and Jean Andrews and Barry and Gina Krahn (who own Sepia Chapel). Jean and Gina are majority owners which allows them to apply for more grants and loans which are available.
The business will feature a tap room, a coffee and juice bar, and will have a kitchen and restaurant. They plant to open by the end of October or first part of November and plan to have 20 beers on tap (14 in-house brews and 6 guest brews which could include Petskull, 3Sheeps and other local brews. A beer garden will seat 80 and the inside has a capacity for 140.
A chef has been hired for the restaurant and the menu is in place. The menu will be limited, but its focus is on sharable food items, food flights and simple fare. They will offer dine-in, take out and drive thru food options.
They will offer wine flights, old fashioned flights, coffee flights, and beer flights. Two Rivers High School students helped make the flight boards.
The place will periodically have entertainment both inside and outside.
Right now the building is receiving a major overhaul: new heating system, new AC, new exhaust, new electrical, main floor reinforced to support 6 brew tanks.
The renovation will also include four murals: Roger Street Fishing Village, Rawley Point Lighthouse, Beach w/bike, and River w/kayak. All of the murals are done in black and white.
Curt encouraged everyone to follow them on Facebook.
Cool City Brewing are partnering with other local businesses including Christina’s Bakery, Susie Q fish market, Parallel 44, Cold Country Winery, Petskull, 3 Sheeps and a number of others.
